Melissa began her process for each of these quirky barnyard animals in a loose continuous line. She then handcrafted the black paint by burning birch bark collected from the forest floor. This process created a sooty substance named lampblack (a by-product of fire) that she then harvested into a velvety black archival ink.
This print includes a custom double white matting inside a delicate black frame.
