Savon de Marseille - Laundry Soap

Savon de Marseille Laundry Soap is a traditional solid soap that has been produced around Marseille France, for about 600 years. It uses 4 simple ingredients: Vegetable Oil (Coconut + Sunflower Seed), Salt, Soda and Water. It is hypoallergenic, biodegradable, palm oil free, fragrance free, free of dyes and septic safe.

Here's how to make your own liquid soap, from a block of Savon de Marseille:

You will need a 1L bottle, a block of Savon de Marseille, a kitchen grater and very hot water.

Step 1. Grate 30grams of soap into flakes and add them to the 1L bottle.

Step 2. Add 250ml of very hot water to the bottle and shake and swirl it around.

Step 3. Add another 250ml of very hot water to the bottle and shake and swirl it around.

Step 4. Let the solution sit until most of the soap has melted

Step 5. Top the bottle up with very hot water and shake until no solid soap remains.

It's just that simple. A 200g block of soap will make over 6 1/2 L of liquid laundry soap. Each Litre will do 10 loads of laundry at a cost of 18¢ per load. Not all eco friendly options are economical. When you find one that's checks both boxes, it's hard to say no.

If you love the idea, but prefer to try one premixed you can find them here.

Let me know if you've tried this - or plan to, in the comments below,

xx

Mold Removal is the act learn more of removing the mold from the home or building.” In some cases, mold is only on the surface of non-porous or semi-porous material. You can remove mold using a combination of cleaning techniques, but always keeping in mind that mold will release spores when agitated
